In 1908, Boccioni met in Milan marinetti, an Italian poet: it was a determining
meeting. The following year, on the 20th of February 1909, Marinetti published
the Proclamation of the futuristic poetry.
On the 11th of February 1910, it was the turn of some Italian painters to publish
the Proclamation of the futuristic painters.
Carlo Carrà tells:
"To spread few days later to a thousand of specimens, this call to a bold
and opened rebellion, under the grey sky of our country, made the effect of
an electric discharge".
Boccioni becomes the theorist of this movement.
In 1914, he will publish futuristic Paintings, Sculptures and thus explains
the goal of futuristic painting:
"While the impressionists do a painting to give a particular moment and
subordinate the life of the painting to its resemblance with this moment, we
synthesize every moment (time, place, form, color, tone) and thus build the
painting".
His masterpiece, the Elasticity. It is the synthesis of the movements of a
racehorse. We recognize the same elements of dynamism in his sculptures, which
represent a great part of its work: Synthesis of the human dynamism, Development
of a bottle in the space, single form of continuity in space. Mobilized in
the declaration of war, Boccioni died in 1916 due to a fall from an horse.
